It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Henry “Hon Ming” Lee on June 29, 2026, in South Surrey, BC, just days before his 94th birthday, surrounded by the love of his family.
Henry was born in the village of Sam Toon, District of Sun Wui, Guangdong, China. Through determination, perseverance, and an unwavering work ethic, he built a wonderful life for his family in Canada. For 43 years, Henry proudly owned and operated a successful grocery store in Victoria, earning the respect of customers, friends, and the community through his honesty, dedication, and warm smile.
While he worked tirelessly throughout his life, Henry also knew how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed watching the Vancouver Canucks, enjoyed playing mahjong with family and friends, and cherished time spent with those he loved.
Above all else, Henry was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, and a proud grandfather. His greatest joy was his family. He shared an extraordinary 69-year marriage with the love of his life, Cecilia. Their enduring partnership was built on love, devotion, and quiet strength, and together they created a close-knit family that was his greatest pride. His steady presence, quiet wisdom, generosity, and unconditional love shaped the lives of his children and grandchildren and will remain with them always.
Henry was predeceased by his parents, Suey King and Tong Lee; his sister, Jane Liu; and his beloved grandpup, Brando.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Cecilia; his children, Corinne (Bill), Kevin (Leah), and Jennifer; his cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Evan; his niece, Marissa (George); extended family; and many dear friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Rosemary Heights Seniors Village for the compassionate care, kindness, dignity, and respect they showed Henry throughout his time there. Their support and genuine compassion brought great comfort to both Henry and our family, and we will always be very grateful.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are deeply grateful for the many years, memories, and love we shared. Henry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of hard work, humility, and devotion to family will continue to inspire future generations.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at 12:30 p.m.
