
Predeceased by parents Ken and Marion Riley and brothers Rick and Pat. Survived by his wife Clare.
Jack grew up in several small Manitoba towns and in 1962 joined the RCAF entering the University of Manitoba graduating with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering. In December 1966 he and his highschool sweetheart Clare (Wilgosh) were married in Winnipeg at St. Mary's Cathedral.
Over a 33 year military career Jack served in line, staff and command positions in Canada and abroad. He also earned a Masters Degree in engineering at Royal Military College in Kingston, ON while serving as an assistant professor of electrical engineering. On exchange duty with the US Air Force's, Electronic Systems Division, Hanscom AFB, MA he served as Chief Engineer for the NORAD North Warning System (Arctic DEW Line replacement project). From 1984-89 Jack was privileged to have served with Canadian Forces Europe at CFBs Lahr and Baden Söellingen, West Germany. On return to Canada he served at National Defense Headquarters, Ottawa until retirement.
On retiring, Jack and Clare followed their long held desire to live on the west coast and moved to Victoria, BC.
