Born in Edmonton, Alberta, James Grant Tyner (Jim) moved to Los Angeles, California with his wife Doreen Margaret (Davies) in 1961, where they lived the California dream for thirtysomething lovely years before returning to Canada to enjoy Victoria, BC. Interested in everything, he worked as a scientific researcher, discovered a passion for Japan, jazz, and international cuisine, and loved nothing more than striking up conversations with new friends he made along the way, wherever he went. He is remembered for his generosity, sparkly-eyed humour, and knowledge as vast and variable as the starriest skies. He leaves behind his beloved wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren, and all the people he made smile and think, whose journeys he made lighter, warmer and certainly, more interesting.
