Joan Priscilla Mae Waller
June 12th, 1942 – August 11th, 2014
Gone to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 11, 2014 after a six year courageous and pain filled battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Throughout, Joan remained convinced that she could conquer this terrible, debilitating disease until it finally wore her down in the latter stages. She leaves her husband of 53 years, Richard (Dick) Waller, RCMP Supt., (retired), son Kevin (Lyn), daughter Kimberly (Paul), son Michael (Shawna) and eight much loved grandchildren, Christopher, Richard, Nicholas, Michael, Joshua, Kate, Ryan and David. Joan was the daughter of the late William and Augusta Dreger of Morris, Manitoba. Dick and Joan were married on June 2nd, 1961 in Morris, Manitoba and Joan embarked on her 33 year journey as the wife of an RCMP Officer, to several postings in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, then off to Ottawa, ON and Fredericton, NB. Their final posting was in Victoria, BC where they remained after retirement. Joan had a lengthy career as an administrator in the Real Estate Business. She was the Executive Officer of the Real Estate Board of Fredericton and the Office Administrator for Re/Max Ports West in Victoria. After retirement Joan enjoyed several years of hiking and backpacking with her husband, travelling in their camper, various trips abroad and visiting family across Canada. A very special thanks to Joan’s caregiver and special friend, Ofelia Lanto, whose loving care and nursing skills, eased Joan’s pain and kept her spirits high.
Funeral Services will take place at Peace Lutheran Church in Sidney, BC on Monday, August 18th, 2014 at 3pm. Pastor Erik Trovall, her spiritual advisor and faith mentor, will officiate.
