John David “Dave” Martin passed peacefully with his family around him, on July 18, 2026, at Victoria, BC.
He was the second eldest of seven children, born in North Vancouver, BC, to Andy and Hazel Martin. He spent the first 25 years of his life in North Vancouver, BC before moving his family to Victoria, BC.
Dave was a good, kind-hearted, generous, funny man who loved his family. He also loved camping, fishing, hunting, running, walking, riding motorcycles and horses, animals, babies and children, cars, playing cards, and sports (both playing and watching).
Survived by his loving wife, Vera Martin; children Cheryl (John) and Ron (Lorraine); grandchildren Jen (Terry), Jared (Tanya), Andrew, Blair (Natalia), and Erin (Justin); great grandchildren Betty, Theo, Anastasia, Jake, Lucas, Nathan and Logan; siblings Richard “Dick” (Donna) and Gail; and many, many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
There will be a Celebration of Life, at First Memorial Funeral Services at 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on August 18, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dave’s memory may be made to any organization that helps animals.
