It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Judith (Judi) Lynn Ormond at her home in Victoria BC on Friday September 13, 2024, after a short, but brave fight with cancer. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Sandra (Fanda) and brother, Bruce.
Born and raised in Nelson, BC to the parents of Gordon (Dampa) and Shirley (Nanny), it was there that she met and eventually married William (Bill) Ormond. Together with Bill and her young son, Stephen (Steve) Ormond, they all moved to Victoria BC.
Over the next six decades, Judi and Bill built a family that today numbers 3 children - Steve (Dawn), Cheryl (Amy) and Wayne (Tanya), and 9 grandchildren - Mitchell (Leanne), Randi (Ryan), Matthew (Holly), Rheanne, Makayla (Logan), Aaron, Jessica, Evan, and Cameron. She also has 6 great-grandchildren - Meston, Bowen, Adison, Ava, William and Colton.
When she wasn’t helping family, out walking, or exercising, she spent many happy hours reading and gazing out across the bay in front of their Seaview home with an evening glass of wine. In the summers, she and Bill would often return to the family property in Nelson (Nickawa) where they spent time tackling the endless to-do list, visiting with family and reconnecting with close friends.
Judi leaves behind the legacy of a loving family, a hard worker, devoted wife, respected matriarch and courageous fighter. While she was the first to admit she could be both stubborn and demanding at times, her unwavering support of family, sense of humour, and ability to laugh at herself will be deeply missed.
Her life was a life well-lived. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that was greatly loved. We’ll miss you, Nan – always. She was 81.
The life of the deceased is placed in the memories of the living.
No service will be held.
