Surrounded by family, Mom leaves behind her sons and their wives: John & Maureen, David & Kris, Peter & Mary. Her grandchildren Nichole, Michael, Emily, Rebecca, and Katherine. Great-grandchildren Charlotte, Teddy and Kai.
Born in England, June leaves behind her sister, Norma in Devon. Mom now joins Jim, devoted husband of 66 years (pre-deceased, May 2015).
Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada in 1952. They lived in North Bay, Montreal, Los Angeles and Seattle before arriving in Victoria, “the promised land”, in 1960. View Royal became home where Mom worked at the Betty Ann Bakery (303 Island Highway), volunteered for the View Royal library and as cub leader: both at the community hall. She was a dedicated Friend of Knocken Hill Park, cleared invasives with endless hours advocating for / protecting the region’s natural ecosystems. Mom also enjoyed her years at Vic Book & Stationary, and many hours of volunteering for Victoria Performing Arts Festival and the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific. After Dad retired, they built their dream home in 1986 overlooking their “park” and favorite sailing places: Esquimalt Harbour and RCNSA. They won many racing trophies and awards with the association.
We thank the doctors and nurses at Victoria Geneal Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion to both Mom and family.
No service by request. Any donations to mom’s favorite charity, the SPCA, would be greatly appreciated by the needy animals in care.
