Jurgen Stossel passed away on February 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Jurgen was born in Germany and at the age of 18 came to & settled in Victoria . He worked at odd jobs until he found his final calling as a mason in the early 1960’s. Met his wife Charlotte in Victoria & they were married in 1963. In 1967, right after his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup – he welcomed the birth of his only child Gary later that same year. In the early 1970’s he made another bold move by starting his own masonry business which thrived until he retired in 2007. Throughout the years, he played soccer for the Victoria Kickers while cheering on his beloved homeland German soccer team which was Borussia Dortmund (BVB-09). He also went on to coach youth soccer. He was an avid 10 pin bowler and bowled at both Aurora Lanes and May fair Lanes until it closed in 2006. BUT…always made sure the family was looked after first & foremost. Examples of his mason craftmanship will forever remain throughout Victoria.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Stossel; son, Gary (Laurie) Stossel; and Granddaughter, Elyssa.
