Kenneth Paul Cunliffe, age 76, passed away peacefully with his children and dear friends by his side on May 5, 2026. Ken was born on August 27, 1949, in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, where he grew up in a large and lively family as one of fifteen children born to Kathleen and Peter Cunliffe. He later made his home in Victoria, British Columbia, where he lived for many years and built a life filled with family, friendship, music, and good food.
Ken will be deeply missed by his children, Vanessa, Matthew (Victoria), and John; their mother, Christine; and by his beloved granddaughter, Penelope, who brought him great joy. He is also lovingly remembered by his remaining sisters, Jeannie and Bernadine; brother Alex; as well as extended family and many friends.
Ken worked as a chef and was known as a fantastic cook who loved bringing people together through food. Outside the kitchen, he enjoyed dancing, playing the violin, and even a good trip to Costco — simple pleasures that became part of the memories those close to him will always cherish.
He had a gift for connecting with people and seemed to make a friend everywhere he went. Ken was also a natural storyteller, with a lifetime of fascinating experiences and an incredible breadth of knowledge on countless subjects. Conversations with him were rarely short, often entertaining, and always memorable.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his sense of humour, his talents, and the love he had for his family.
Celebration of life details will be shared at a later date.
