With heavy hearts, we share the passing of a great husband, father, Opa, brother and friend. Ken was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and began his career as a pressman at The Herald in Prince Albert. He and his wife Joan had a beautiful marriage of 58 years, raising their family in Sidney, BC.
Ken was a pressman and integral part of the Times Colonist for 36-years. He was a true leader, serving as President of the GCI Union; on the board of Trustees at the Sidney Army Navy Air Force Unit 302; and generously volunteering his time in retirement, including with his buddies at the Juan de Fuca Columbus Club (aka ‘the farm’).
Ken was grounded in his faith and a dedicated Knight of Columbus for 63 years. Ken cherished his family: wife Joan, daughters Kendra King (Dale), Krista Davis (Tim) and Korina Miller (Kirk), grandchildren Meghan, Evan, Ronan, Emmet, Simone and Monique, sisters Anne, Carol and Darlene, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Alfred.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General hospitals who cared for him over the past 8 months. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital who compassionately cared for him in his final days. A celebration of life will be held at noon on August 28th at St. Joseph the Worker ((753 Burnside Rd West, Victoria, BC). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Palliative Care Unit at the Royal Jubilee Hospital.
