He also leaves to mourn, his son’s Greg (Ashna) Calgary, and Dan (Suzanne) Victoria, grandchildren Andrew, Emma and Ashley. Lovingly remembered by his in-laws Joan Martin and Gerald Christie.
Leo had a long career in the dental profession, as a dental technician and later, became a Denturist working directly with his patients. He created smiles...both professionally and personally.
Leo enjoyed outdoor activities, gardening, fishing, camping, and golf; But he loved home best. His biggest joy was sharing time with family and friends for any reason, game nights (in some cases whole days of gaming), celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries. Christmas in particular was his favourite holiday.
He was a terrific host, but you did need to like your coffee strong.
He excelled at making soups and baking, as long as when he came up with ideas or watched YouTube videos, he had his sous chef Nicky at hand.
We have such amazing friends, so dear to us, and the caring and love he gave, and received from you, filled his heart.
One of his many legacy’s, is being known as the “best hugger ever”; and had a handshake and a smile that made you feel the love he had for you. Thank you all for being in our lives.
A Celebration of Remembrance will be done in the spring of 2027, at First Memorial, in Saanich BC. The date will be posted on their website later. Spring was Leo’s favourite season. He could plan his garden of flowers and veggies he wanted to grow, and knew that golf season was right around the corner with his favourite playing partners.
In lieu of flowers, give someone you care about a big hug!
A poem written by Nicky for another loss seems appropriate for Leo.
Celebrate My Life
Come celebrate with me
The end of life’s mortality
I now am walking free
With loved ones who preceded me.
The manner of my passing
Is not to worry you
I had loved ones surrounding me
To help me see it through.
Do not regret my passing
For I loved to live my life
With joy and tears and laughter
Through happiness and strife.
I will see you again I promise,
When you come to walk with me
In the gardens that are forever
Where we all, are set free.
