R.I.P. Lindy,
I enjoyed hearing your stories about how you enjoyed listening to the the 48th highlander’s regimental pipes and drums, back in Ontario where you lived and where my dad was a piper with the band. 
You shared a memory of the pipe major, who stopped their band bus on the way home, on the day after competition, winning fist prize. The pipe major called for a detour, stopping the bus and assembling the entire band onto the front  lawn outside a hospital window, where a young lad was reported to be in care. The boy had injured himself, broken a limb somehow, on the grounds of the competition.  You were attending in a volunteer capacity and ever helpful, saw to it the boy would  get to a hospital.
Lindy, you selflessly took the time to share with the pipe major, after his band took first at the competition, that a young  boy was sent to hospital earlier that day, he was heart broken to miss the pipe bands he was so looking forward to experiencing.
What you didn’t know Lindy, is that your compassion and gentle thoughtfulness, compelled that pipe major to pay your kindness forward, turning many frowns upside down that day….Something  you’ve done all your life I reckon. What a thrill it must have been to have one’s spirits raised by a championship pipe band, to have them perform a private concert, in sight and sound  from a hospital bedside window. 

Thanks for your kindness, compassion and endearing  sense of humour and positivity. You will always be a champion, a true Rotarian, friend and real gentleman in our hearts and minds. 
You are missed.

Oh, so saddened to learn this news about Lindy.

He was a pillar of Rotary during his time in Woodstock. As a young Rotarian years ago, I remember how he mentored and encouraged many new Rotarians such as myself, for which I am truly greatful.

He was also a dedicated District 7080 leader and strong resource in helping clubs succeed.

Lindy was a Rotarian for what would have been half a century this coming May.  50 years of service.   Lindy was a founder of our annual roses fundraiser as an example.    The Rotary Club of Victoria-Harbourside will remember you, Lindy.   You were a real positive influence  for us and other Rotary clubs you were a member of.
