July 2, 1920 - March 7, 2015
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Margot. Predeceased by two husbands, she is survived by her daughter, Diane Jesshope (Brian), step-sons Rick Brand (Donna) and Terry Brand (Molly), grandchildren Christine Beegan (Rory), Ryan Carrigan (Denisa), Veydra Van de Leur (Tim), Tony Brand and Derek Brand as well as three great grandchildren. Margot was born in London, England in 1920. From early childhood she practiced ballet and later became a professional ballerina. Her dancing career was cut short by the second World War. During the war years Margot worked in a factory assembling ailerons for military aircraft. She married a Canadian soldier stationed in the UK in 1944 and in 1947 they moved to Canada together with their infant daughter, Diane. Over the next twelve years, as a military family they made numerous moves across Canada eventually settling in Victoria. Margot had a very successful career for twenty six years with the accounting office at the University of Victoria. In 1971 Margot married the love of her life, Bill. Together they enjoyed playing golf, traveling the world and entertaining their wide circle of friends. Devastated by Bill's death in 2001 Margot eventually returned to leading a full life. Fondly missed by family and friends, Margot will be remembered for her strength, vitality, grace, generosity, sense of humor and vibrant personality. Thank you to all the staff of Glenwarren Lodge.
A short Celebration of Life will take place at Spencer Castle (2906 Cook St) on Wed, March 25th from 2:00 to 4:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
