With profound love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and best friend.
Marjory Silver was born on June 29, 1949, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Janet (née Morrison) and Alfred Fiske. Growing up in an Air Force family, she moved often with her younger siblings, John and Cathy, before completing her schooling at Claremont Secondary School in Victoria, BC.
Inspired by the teachers in her family, Marjory pursued a career in education, enrolling in the Elementary Teaching Program at the University of Victoria in 1967. At the very first dance she attended, she met the love of her life, Wayne Silver. The two married in 1970 in Red Deer, Alberta, beginning a partnership that would last 55 years. Together, they embarked on many adventures as Wayne's career with IBM and later the Navy took them across Canada and beyond.
Their family grew with the arrival of Christa in 1973 and B. Michael in 1974. Through years in Regina, Halifax, California, Ottawa, and finally back home in Victoria, Marjory built a life filled with devotion to her family and her students. In Ottawa, she completed her studies at Carleton University in 1988, later finishing her teaching career as a beloved kindergarten teacher in Victoria.
Marjory's joys in life extended far beyond her profession. She found happiness in books, swimming, curling, golf, makeup, her sorority, and traveling the world. Always radiant with kindness, patience, and a warm smile, she left an impression on everyone she met. At the heart of it all was her love for her family. As a mother, she was endlessly proud and nurturing. As a grandmother, she adored Melanie and Oliver, who brought her immense joy. And as a wife, she and Wayne were inseparable always side by side, hand in hand, soulmates through and through. She was his angel, and he was her knight in shining armour.
Marjory is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Silver; her daughter Christa and son-in-law Ned Easton; her son, B. Michael Silver; her grandchildren, Melanie and Oliver Easton; her brother John (Christine) Fiske; and a large extended family across Canada.
Marjory's life ended peacefully at Broadmead Lodge after a courageous journey with Alzheimer's. Her love, light, and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of life for Marjory will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 at 2:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC V8Y1B4, followed by a reception.
