Paul Harvey Hubin passed through the gates of heaven into his mother’s waiting arms on January 30, 2026. Harvey leaves behind his wife of 69 years Dorothy, daughter Corinne, son Troy and his wife, Noel.
Harvey was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba in April 1934. He loved all sports but his real love was baseball. We believe if he had the chance he would have loved to have become pro. To be involved in the sport, he worked at Royal Athletic Park as their bat boy in the 1950’s.
He worked for Canada Pacific Rail (CPR) then the City of Victoria in the Accounting Department. When the opportunity arose he switched to the Victoria Fire Department as an Alarm Room Operator/Dispatcher for 15 years. It was a job he truly loved. Harvey continued to help with the Victoria Fire Department Historical Society in his retirement. He was a proud Masonic Mason for over 60 years.
We had a small cabin on Piers Island which we built where we spent many happy summers – Harvey keen to share his knowledge with us kids. Many progressive dinners with their lifelong friends made on the island were enjoyed there. After retirement, mom and dad travelled the world cruising.
Harvey was a very loving family man and handy man who taught his children how to fix things and always had a ready smile. Rest in peace now Dad; we love you.
The family would like to thank all the great nurses and Dr. Mark Lawson at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) for the wonderful care he received while in hospital. We would also like to thank the staff at James Bay Care Centre for their support.
In lieu of flowers please support a charity of your choosing in Harvey’s name.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC.
