Sad to tell you that Rick passed away one week after his 78th birthday after many years of battling Parkinson's Disease and a very short bout of stomach flu that his poor body wasn't strong enough to fight off.
Grieving are his wife Bev, siblings Cherri and Lorne, birth daughter Michelle, granddaughters Danielle & Rachel and many good friends like Andrea, Larry, Reg & Brenda and Ed whose visits let him know he was special to them. As Danie so aptly put it "He was loved and he will be missed".
Rick was a proud Esquimalt guy his whole life, he played baseball, soccer, basketball and boxed in his youth and took up racquetball & golf in retirement. He was a Teamster for many years driving logging trucks, construction vehicles and charter buses, buying & selling real estate and classic cars on the side. He loved a good day at the race track and really enjoyed his part ownership in a racehorse at one time.
A special thank you to the staff at Selkirk Place who were caring and kind these last three years.
Rick specified he didn't want a funeral service or memorial but hoped that anyone wishing to could donate to an animal rescue organization in his memory.
