“If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8
On a beautiful Sunday morning September 29, 2024 Richard passed away peacefully to meet his maker. While we are saddened by our loss, we also celebrate his long and healthy life.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Roely ten Houve, children Luitzen(Christine), Gary(Marlene), grandchildren Rachelle(Donny)Groulx, Jeff(Lisa)Riedstra, Stephanie(Darryl)deLeeuw, Scott Riedstra, Brian Riedstra, Eric(Katie)Riedstra, greatgrandchildren Lily, Ethan, Jared, Brantley, Levi, Travis, Thatcher, Rhett, Clare, Leo, Maverick and 1 brother Dirk Riedstra.
Born in Ryptsjerk Friesland the Netherlands to a family of 10 children, Richard immigrated in 1954 to be reunited with the love of his life whom he married 3 weeks later. He worked many years at Canoe Cove and Philbrooks marinas. After retirement they enjoyed traveling to Arizona, and later in their camper van touring around BC. He will be remembered for his devotion to his wife and his love for music. Prior to immigrating he was a member of the Queens Royal Military Band. Music was his passion and what ever instrument he played, he played with his heart and soul.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on Friday October 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Victoria Christian Reformed Church 661 Agnes Street Victoria BC.
