He was our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and is survived by Sharon his loving wife of 57 years, daughter Marcie(John), son Brad, three grandchildren Brynn (Daniel), Leah, and Graeme (Lauren), great-grandbaby Penny, brothers Jim, Joe (Gloria) and John (Colleen), as well an aunt, uncles and numerous cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents Joe and Luella.
Bob was born in Fort William, Ontario and received his schooling there and later at Algonquin College in Ottawa. He worked as an Instrument Technician for many years in the pulp and papery industry in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan; The Pas, Manitoba and Skookumchuk near Cranbrook, B.C. He resided in Cranbrook for 22 years and Calgary for 23 years before he and Sharon moved to Victoria in later 2016.
Bob loved Jesus, his family and friends and he delighted in his new little great-grandbaby. Over the years, Bob enjoyed camping and skiing with his family and friends, curling, his faithful dog Cricket, late night CBC radio, amateur radio, trips to Europe and winters in Arizona. He enjoyed volunteering as a Boy Scout leader, and for many years at both Centre Street Church in Calgary and as a White Hat greeter at the Calgary airport. He was a kind and caring man, who endured many health issues over the years yet didn’t complain or lose his sense of humour. Bob will be greatly missed by his loving family, good friends and neighbors.
A celebration of Life was held April 21, 2018 at Westshore Alliance Church, Victoria, officiated by Pastor Randy Rohrick. A family Celebration will take place in Thunder Bay later. If desired, memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Victoria Hospice, 1952 Bay Street, Victoria, B.C. V9B 1J8 or www.Victoriahospice.org
