I was so very sad to hear of Robyn's passing.  I will always have amazing memories of my time living with Robyn, Donna and Matt. They became a part of my family and I was honoured to be a part of theirs. Robyn was such a strong independent person and I always loved our conversations. I look forward to being able to celebrate her life when COVID lock downs are lifted.

I am incredibly saddened to hear of Robyn’s passing.  Over the past decade I have had the opportunity to spend many Thanksgivings, Christmases, birthdays and summer days at Robyn and Ray’s house in Victoria and then in Shawnigan. I have many fond memories of summer barbecues in the backyard, watching shark week in the living room, and gathering for big family dinners around the dining table. Robyn was the center of her household and cared deeply for her family. She will be missed terribly and my heart goes out to her family in this time. 

We were shocked and saddened to read of the passing of Robyn, our beloved Block Watch Captain. Robyn was the only person in our neighbourhood, brave enough to organize and become our Block Watch Captain for many years. Robyn always made us feel  welcome when holding all the informative  meetings in her & Ray's  livingroom. Now with Winston, Taffy and Tigger by your side  your pain is gone. This is a great loss. So many emotions have overwhelmed me and I still don’t know quite what to write. Robyn- you were a force of nature. You impacted my life in so many ways that you changed my life. I will always think of you as a woman of incredible strength, love, intelligence and fierceness. Your love for your children was incredible. You were complicated, and expected more of others too.  I still hear your laughter and will always see you in my dreams. 

Firstly my condolences to Robyn’s family. I was lucky to have been hired as a house cleaner for Robyn and Ray about two years ago. Their home is one that is easy to walk into because of their warmth and trust. Robyn was so easy to talk to and her favourite topic was that of her grand children.
Rest In Peace and no pain Robyn, you will be missed by many.


Robyn’s New Zealand family is heartbroken about her passing. Surely another visit down to her birthplace was due? Xmas 2021 at Lake Shawnigan was definitely on the cards, a meeting of all the grandkids and cousins under Robyn & Ray’s Xmas tree had already been planned by said children! It’s hard to believe she’s gone, that I won’t see her again turning up to greet me when I moved to a new country (like she did in 2016 when she drove to Oregon with Ray in the camper van) or for Xmas at her place, always the generous host! It feels like a pivotal piece of the family has gone, the person who got us together and kept in touch and asked about everyone and shared in return, who wanted family to be around her and together and thriving. A mighty Totara had fallen, as we say in New Zealand. 

Robyn. I miss you. I’m so sad you won’t meet Aila grown up and share a giggle, or little Mirren (who’s independent spirit I’m sure you’d have enjoyed!). My heart breaks knowing how darned annoyed you’ll be about missing seeing Maddie, Rowen, and Stellan grow up, since you loved those kids more than anything. I just expected to share stories over a coffee with you and Donna in the future, we’d always bring you a family issue or two for you to nut through and advise on. 

Robyn, you are loved and will be dearly missed. I promise Donna and I will keep the kids together for the sharing of Grani/ Aunty Robbie stories  over the years. Aroha nui.


I met Robyn when I was just a little fella. I remember her as a strong, independent woman who enjoyed the outdoors. She taught me how to paddle a canoe, she spoke to me on a level I hadn't experienced before. Like a mini person rather than a little kid....  she was genuinely interested in what I was up to and would ask lots of questions. For a little kid (and later a teenager) that was amazing. Someone was actually taking an active interest in what I thought. 

I haven't seem Robyn for many years now. She had been dealing with pain for a long time. It was heartbreaking to hear how she had been struggling these past few years. It must have been very very hard for a woman who was so used to having an active life. 

I'll miss her and I will always remember the Robyn of my youth. 

I enjoyed working with Robyn at Islands Trust for several years.  She was such a bright light and I learned so much from her.

Mom was such an amazing Grani! She was so encouraging and supportive of all the kids. She found their hidden strengths and talents and went out of her way to nurture them. She paid close attention to learn each child’s special personality and connect with them. Mom would always read them books before they went to sleep and they loved early morning snuggles in her bed. The girls especially remember fondly all the adventures she took them on! They went on their first camping trip with Grani and Granpa and fell in love with it. She took them to beaches, playgrounds, museums, movies, absolutely everywhere. She did crafts with Maddie, made picture books with Rowen and loved to hold baby Stellan in her lap. We may have lived apart, but we packed a lot of precious memories into our frequent visits. We lost her much too soon and she will always be deeply missed by my family.
