Ruth was born on the family farm in Lac Vert, Saskatchewan to Ewart & Ethel Butler. She grew up a farm girl, and that was where she met the love of her life, Don. They were married in 1949 and shared 66 wonderful years together.
Ruth was first and foremost a devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. But she also enjoyed her years selling Avon and Tupperware, and was proud to break down barriers as one of the first women in the furniture department at Eaton's.
Ruth will be fondly remembered for her laughter and joy; her love and compassion; as well as her wit and tenacity. She loved to travel with Don, play Scrabble, plan elaborate family parties, bake, dance, sing and play piano. Ruth was also a well respected, life-long member of the Jehovah's Witness faith.
She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Don, as well as her brother Charlie. Ruth is survived by her children Merridee (Ray), Brian (Jan), and Randy, as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grand children.
As per Ruth's request, there will be no service.
