With heavy hearts our beloved son, Wesley Robert McIntyre passed away in the early morning of Friday May 12, 2023 at the Victoria General Hospital. Wes was a kind and gentle giant of a soul who cared for his family and the many people he worked with over the years. Even in his later years when his health declined, Wes made sure his caregivers from Island Health were treated with respect and generosity. Wes and his family are forever grateful for all their care and support.
At the age of five Wes began a life of cycling in Prince George B.C. His mother (Gladys) was in the house when she saw Wes whizzing by on bicycle. A few minutes later he went around the house again. Most children have to be taught to ride a bike. Not Wes. Right from the start he rode a two-wheeler solo and continued to ride in Edmonton through all seasons, including the long, cold winters. Wes had two bikes that he loved and cared for - one for summer/spring and the other for fall/winter that included the necessary winter tires.
Wes’s kindness found kinship in his love of animals, especially the two family pets Alfie and Ralfie—two dogs that were everyday companions and gave Wes constant joy and happiness. Over the years he cherished their love and playful ways, particularly when he was house-bound and unable to get outdoors.
Wes was an avid fan of heavy metal bands. Any, and all heavy metal bands. Over the years he travelled and attended concerts for KISS, Ozzy Osborne, Rush, Rolling Stones, Triumph and the Police. He saw every heavy metal band that came to Edmonton and his collection of memorabilia adorned the walls of his bedroom walls and closets.
Wes was predeceased by his father Robert (Bob) who passed away in 2014 as well as grandparents Elizabeth & John Fedun and Olive & Robert McIntyre, all of Yorkton SK. He is survived by his loving Mom (Ma) Gladys and by his many uncles and aunts.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA are appreciated
