Bill loved to travel and spent many winters in Mexico and in Arizona. He was known to organize and lead caravans into various parts of the South West. Dad was very social and accumulated a number of close friends throughout his life.

Bill was fortunate enough to be married to two wonderful women. He survived his first wife Sheila MacDonald with whom he had six children, and he survived his second wife, Joyce de Grandpre, who provided him with two step children. He has always felt very fortunate to have had so many very engaged children.
