He achieved high marks through grade school and university, completing a Master of Applied Science in Engineering degree at UBC. He met Jill during those years, and they married and moved to Victoria, BC to start a family. He served as a civil engineer (hydrology) for the provincial government for 35 years.
Above all, William’s love of history, collecting, finance, sports, travel and camping occupied his time. He supported his children in their passions for education, music, and sports, even coaching their little league teams. Most poignantly, his children recall regular childhood camping trips in his self-modified camper van as foundational to their continued love of camping. In his later years, William dedicated himself to his hobbies, including a newfound love of golf and writing. He also traded camping with cruising, visiting points of interest farther abroad.
William passed away after a brief illness, supported by his family throughout. He is survived by his sister, Marion; wife, Jill; daughters, Rebecca and Paula; son, Nicholas; grandsons, Raffi and Milo; and granddaughter, Lucia.
