William C. Grant Van Dyke, was a beloved partner, youngest son and brother, uncle, grand-uncle, and friend. He passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Vancouver, BC, at the age of 60.
Grant was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a child, his family moved to Calgary and then Sacramento. There, he made lifelong friends, excelled in football, baseball, and basketball, and graduated from high school. After high school and in his 20s, he lived in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Toronto before finally moving to Vancouver. There, in 1995, he met and fell in love with Annaliza, better known as Lisa, and they have been together ever since.
He was a talented dancer and choreographer. He specialized in popping and locking and devoted countless hours to honing his skills. Grant performed on the West Coast and in Toronto; on stage, in commercials, and in films. He was also a gifted drummer, played a little guitar, and taught himself keyboards. He composed music and collaborated with several local artists, recording in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Vancouver. His music was heard on the radio, used on albums, and featured in a couple of movies.
Grant held his family and his extended family of friends close to his heart. He often shared stories and joyful memories of the friends he made in high school, in the dance community, and in the music industry. He was friendly, kind, and giving with a love for music he happily shared and a faith in God that never left him. He took time to talk to strangers and often befriended the homeless in the neighborhood, giving them food, clothing, and even his last dollar. His positive outlook on life uplifted many, especially in his later years.
In his early retirement, Grant liked watching sports, light-hearted comedies, and live concerts. He enjoyed spending time with family and going out daily, if it wasn’t raining, especially to the beach a few blocks from home. He travelled to Cuba and Costa Rica, which remained one of his favorite destinations. He laughed every day and greeted everyone with a warm smile.
Grant is survived by his loving partner of 31 years, Lisa, his sister, Barb (Dan), and his brothers, Wayne (Evelyn) and Wes, along with all their children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine Dyck.
Grant leaves behind a beautiful harmony of faith and love that will continue to inspire everyone who was blessed to know him. Please join us in remembering him.
