Alberta Hall Holm, 99, of Victoria, TX, passed away peacefully from this life on Friday, August 19, 2016. Alberta was born at her parents’ home in San Antonio, TX, on July 13, 1917. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Teresa Dunn Hall; her husband of 46 years, Dion R. Holm Jr.: her daughter, Mary Teresa Holm; and her three beloved sisters, Agnes, Eleanor and Vivian Hall.
She is survived by her children: Dion R. Holm III, Paul B. Holm II, and wife, Kathleen Cullen Holm of Victoria; Nicholas J. Holm and wife, Camille Dowden Holm of Houston; Anne Holm O’Brien of San Antonio; John Mark Holm of New Braunfels; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The greatest joy in Alberta’s life was being mother to her six children. She worked diligently for their schools along with other community organizations and later turned her attention and notable intellect to the financial markets where she enjoyed a long and successful career as a stockbroker. A lifelong Catholic, Alberta lived her faith daily and continued to be an example of Christian understanding and tolerance until the Lord called her home.
A rosary will be recited Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral Church with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will then follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alberta’s grandsons.
The family would like to thank Senior Helpers and Hospice of South Texas for their unfailing compassion and care during Alberta’s last weeks. We know they respected her and grew to love her as she did them.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that any contributions be gifted to Nazareth Academy, St. Joseph’s High School, or Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
