She was born Annie Magdenlen Patek on January 13, 1940, in Shiner, Texas, the youngest of seven children born to Laddie and Augustina (Drabek) Patek. Anna was raised in a strong Catholic family and graduated from St. Ludmila’s Catholic School in Shiner, Texas. She continued her education at The Renger Memorial Hospital School of Vocational Nursing in Hallettsville, where she earned her nursing degree.
On October 20, 1962, she married William Francis Wagner, in Sweet Home, Texas. Together they shared sixty-four devoted years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Anna was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria. She was actively involved in the Catholic Daughters of America, KJZT, the Holy Family Altar Society, and the Holy Family Quilters. Her faith guided her life, and she found joy in serving her parish and community.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, William; her children, David Wagner (Sherri) of Katy, Daren Wagner of Houston, William W. Wagner (Michelle) of Double Oak, Brian Wagner of Edna, and Aron Wagner of Victoria; her grandchildren, Ashlyn Wagner, Madelyn Wagner, Trace Wagner, Hope Arnold (Nathan), Camryn Wagner, Billy Wagner, Lexi Wagner, and Logan Wagner; and her great-grandchildren, Isabella Arnold and Eloise Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her six siblings: Agnes Schlenker, Mary Smith, Laddie Patek, Johnny Patek, Edward Patek and Augustina (Gussie) Walla.
Anna found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She loved her cats, enjoyed playing dominoes, and spent countless hours tending to her yard and plants. She was especially known for baking her beloved “crazy cake,” a family favorite that will be fondly remembered for generations.
