Anne P. Wagner, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home with her beloved husband by her side. Dr. Anne was born on the 3rd of June 1943, in Ingleside, California, to the late Milton and Rubena Welch Poole.
Anne graduated from Lubbock High School in 1961. She received her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Anne joined the U.S. Navy in 1971 in San Diego, California. Serving her Residency at the Naval Medical Center (Portsmouth), Internal Medicine, 1975-1978.
In 1977, while working on the base during morning rounds and briefings, a young surgeon by the name of Dr. William Wagner noticed Dr. Anne and, drawing up his courage, asked her for a date. The rest, they say, is history, and together, they celebrated forty-six years of marriage.
In 1983, Dr. Anne and Dr. Will moved to Victoria and continued their medical careers.
She was Victoria Woman of the Year, started the CME program at CMC and had it certified, worked as locum tenons for many doctor practices until joining Dr. Gober’s practice, remained with his group until she retired, but then worked part-time with the DeTar Hospitalists group.
She retired from practice in 2014.
Dr. Anne was known to many as a kind, caring, and thoughtful person. She was always concerned about your well-being, not just from a doctor’s standpoint. She honestly loved people. She was “a Good doctor.”
Anne is survived by her husband, Dr. William Wagner, and her cherished children, Arianne and Brian White of Frisco, TX; William J. Wagner III and Yasmin Wagner of Austin; grandchildren Isabel S. Wagner, Holden L. Wagner, and Jackson M. White; sisters Dottie Chandler of Fresno, California and Sallie Holdrich of Bethesda, Maryland.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Poole.
In keeping with Dr. Anne’s request, a private family graveside service was held.
