Billy Wesley Maroney, born August 6, 1938, in Bloomington, Texas, son of Luther Kaye Maroney and “Brownie” Maroney, lived a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady faith, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Billy shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Glenda Faye Maroney. Together they built a strong family rooted in love and shared values. He was a proud father of four children: Susan Harris and husband Rob; Melissa Heinrichsen and husband Michael; Jennifer Karl and fiancé Joel Price; and David Maroney and wife Lee Ann.
He was a cherished grandfather to Katelyn Karl, Tyler Maroney, Isabel Maldonado, Abby Karl, J.C. Maldonado, Sarah Harris, Conner Maroney, Stella Maldonado, and Bailey Heinrichsen, each of whom brought him great joy and pride.
Billy is survived by his sister, Sandra Hiller and husband Dan; niece Dana Shields and husband Mike; nephew Charley Hiller and Kristen; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Kaye Maroney and “Brownie;” his aunt and uncle, Arthur “Slim” and Katherine Garrison; cousin Jim Garrison; and uncle Bobby Van Zant and wife Jeanette.
Billy graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956. He was active in rodeo during his youth and won the Calhoun County Championship Tie-Down Buckle and Saddle in 1955. He dedicated 42 years of service to Union Carbide, demonstrating a strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. Outside of work, Billy found fulfillment in raising cattle and maintained a lifelong love of rodeo and quarter horses. He was a longtime faithful member of First English Lutheran Church and proudly served his country in the National Guard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at First English Lutheran Church, 516 N. Main Street, Victoria, Texas. Private burial for family will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Chip Reynolds will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Roger Parsons, Charley Hiller, Mike Shields, Tyler Maroney, and Conner Maroney.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of Christus Spohn Shoreline ICU Acute Care and to Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion for their compassionate care.
