Dennis O'Connor Hewitt, a lifelong resident of Victoria, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his residence. Dennis was born to father, Robert "Bobby" Joseph Hewitt, and mother, Elizabeth Terry Stofer Hewitt, on February 7, 1963.
Dennis worked alongside his father and grandfather for many years at O’Connor & Hewitt Enterprises. At the time of his death, he was still actively involved in the family business with oil and gas interests, as well as The O’Connor & Hewitt Foundation.
Anyone who knew Dennis knew about his deep passion for cars. In his later years, he would participate in the Texas Mile just to feel the thrill. His love for cars was matched only by his love for rock and roll, so much so that he met Gene Simmons from KISS, an unforgettable moment.
But above all, Dennis deeply loved his daughters and his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Cortland Hewitt Johnson and her husband Chris, Hanna O'Connor Hewitt; sister Mary Austin Hewitt and her wife Dawn; grandchildren Hadley Johnson and Cole Johnson, all of Victoria, as well as his niece Ellen Hewitt Sanders and husband Zach and their two children Jill & Curtis from Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert J. Hewitt, Jr.
