Donald “Don” J. Leinen of Victoria, Texas passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday the 22nd of November 2023 at the age of 73. Don was born in Concordia, Kansas to Dolores Rogers Leinen and the late Stanley L. Leinen on April 18, 1950.
After graduating from Stroman High School’s first graduating class in 1969, he was drafted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. After serving in the military, Don was employed by Halliburton where he worked for 44 years, beginning as a cementer to working off shore, to ultimately becoming a field supervisor. During his long career in the oilfield, he was best known for his work with rig blowouts- for which he was very proud. He was currently employed as a sales representative for Energy Fishing and Rental. When not working, Don enjoyed watching football, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also thoroughly enjoyed camaraderie with his friends, often accompanied by Coors Light.
Don is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Leinen; Diana Saenz and husband Trey; son, Robert Leinen and wife Sally; his mother, Dolores Rogers Leinen; sisters, Lana Grigar and husband Glenn, Paulette Raub and husband Gene; brothers, Larry Leinen and wife Sherry, Stanley Leinen and wife Rosemary; his grandchildren, Evans Saenz, Maxwell Saenz, Darcy Leinen, David Leinen and Deana Leinen and many loving nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Stanley L. Leinen and his sister, Karen Accord, as well as the mother of his children, Diana Cliburn Leinen.
Honorary pallbearers include all of his buddies from Halliburton and Energy Fishing & Rental…You know who you are.
Celebration of Life is scheduled at 11:00am, December 8, 2023 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, 3304 Mockingbird Lane, Victoria, TX 77904.
