Dorothy Thamm Cook, 89, of Victoria, formerly of Meyersville, passed away February 23, 2011, in the home she dearly loved after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers Disease. She was born December 5, 1921, in Meyersville to the late W.J. and Bertha Albrecht Thamm. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of First English Lutheran Church. Dorothy will be remembered as a quiet, sweet individual that displayed loving strength and devotion to her family. She often said she only wanted a better life for her children than her own. She can rest in peace knowing that from her encouragement and love, her wishes have come true, as ours when God gave her to us as our Mother. She will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Eddie W. Cook, of Victoria; daughters, Deborah Miller, and her husband, Lee, of Cypress, and Donna Ford and her husband, David, of Helotes; five grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandaughter.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Dean Cook, and three sisters and three brothers.
The family would like to express their love and thanks to special caregivers, Kathy Darilek and Rosemary Mikush, for their loving Christian spirit and devotion in taking care of our mother and wife.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday February 25, 2011, from the First English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jerry Wirtley officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
