Dorthy "Dee" Smith Abrams

Dee was born November 27, 1949 in Straubing, West Germany to the parents of Francis W. and Betty Rose Karmann Smith before relocating to the United States and later settling in Victoria, Texas.

She is survived by a daughter, Heather Abrams Raesz of Taylor, Texas; a son, Teddy Glenn Abrams, two grandchildren, Talia and Tori Abrams, of Hempstead, Texas; sisters, Christy Reissig of Victoria, Texas; Linda Smith and Louella Sadler Lounsbury both of San Antonio, Texas; 5 nieces and 5 nephews.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Karl and Bertha Karmann; mother, Betty Rose Karmann Logsdon; father, Francis W. Smith; sisters Evelyn Smith Jenkins and Cynthia Blevins Riehs.

Dee attended Patti Welder Jr. High and graduated from Victoria High School in 1967 where she was a member of the Stingaree Band. She attended Victoria Jr. College until she married and relocated to Garland, Texas and Houston, Texas. She worked as a reservationist for Braniff Airlines and a legal secretary for many years. She returned to school and graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Phillips College, San Antonio, Texas in 1994 with a Nursing degree.

Before retiring, Dee traveled extensively in and outside the U.S. visiting various beaches and resorts. She loved the water, and her most recent travel was a road trip up the eastern coast. She was passionate about gardening and an avid landscaper. She loved to read, cook, bake, decorate and entertain.

After retiring, she relocated to the Greenhouse Village, a senior living community in Cypress, Texas where she left many friends of whom were recipients of her many talents. She loved their pot luck dinners and had a knack for making each holiday a special occasion for all to enjoy. Christmas was her favorite and she received the first place prize 3 years in a row for her holiday décor, decorating the entire hall for all to participate and enjoy.

Dee will be cremated and a private service for family and friends will be held in December to celebrate her life and love for the Christmas season.
