Dr. Elwood D. LaPlante

Dr. Elwood D. “Woody” LaPlante, age 84, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012. He was born October 20, 1927 in Joplin, Missouri to the late Lee and Alberta Magee LaPlante.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and formerly served on the church vestry. He served in the United States Army, 5th RCT during the Korean War. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatry and Foot Surgery in Chicago, and practiced in Victoria from 1957-1997. He was also a former member of the Northside Rotary Club.

Woody is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley LaPlante. He also is survived by his faithful dog, Tootsie.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 20, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Bur Dobbins officiating. Flag folding military honors will be provided by the Victoria Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to Adopt-A-Pet.
