Elizabeth Byars Folse

Elizabeth Lenz Byars Folse, 93, was born October 26, 1920, to parents, John and Hilda Lenz. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 26, 2014. Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of Victoria County.

Growing up on a farm, Elizabeth’s early education was in a one-room country schoolhouse and continued by attending Victoria schools and business college. She worked many years as a bookkeeper, eventually retiring to travel the country with husband Leon.

She is survived by sons, Robert M. Byars and wife Wanda, Richard L. Byars and wife Monica; daughter-in-law, Jan Folse; grandchildren, Kevin Byars, Elizabeth Zweifel and husband Martin, Matt Byars, Amelia Penoli and husband Jason, Zachary Byars, Stephanie Leonard and husband Toby; great grandchildren, Tyler and Justin Zweifel, Autumn Byars and Ella Penoli; nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merrell Byars; her second husband, Leon Folse and his son, Joe Folse; and sister, Beatrice Curlee.

A visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. George Henninger officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Byars, Toby Leonard, Jason Penoli, Kevin Byars, Jason Swanson and Martin Zweifel. Honorary pallbearers are Zachary Byars, Tyler Zweifel, Justin Zweifel and John Curlee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
