

ERNEST J. STIELER (Sonny), 91, peacefully passed away March 14, 2017. He was born October 13, 1925 in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Louis and Mary (Keller) Stieler. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Sill Prochazka) Stieler, six daughters: Ginette (Mike) Collins of Rockport, Texas; Carol Stieler of San Antonio, Texas; Charlene (Gene) Knezek of Shiner, Texas; Bobbi (Eddie) of Longview, Texas; Marilyn (Ken) Ratliff of Victoria; & Kathy (Ray) Lawrence of Santa Fe, Texas; two sons: Henry (Cindy) Prochazka of Somerville, Texas; Charles (Lyna) Prochazka of Alice, Texas; step brother: Vernon (Yvonne) Schwarz of Highland Haven, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters: Lucille (Celie) (C.B.) Stroud and Genevieve (Tuddy) (Herbert) Huxoll; step brother: Harry (Fran) Schwarz.
Ernest attended Jefferson High in San Antonio, Texas; Fredericksburg High in Fredericksburg, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served in the South Atlantic and South Pacific during WWII. He also attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas and later he pursued his interest in obtaining his real estate license. He moved to Alice, Texas in 1984, and later moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. Ernest was employed by D & R Sales Co., EGH Construction Co., and Century 21. He retired in 1997. During his retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing, woodworking, gardening, and their time up at the river in Mason, Texas.
His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m., Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Deacon Jim Koenig officiating.
