George A. Schramek passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the age of 86 in Victoria, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 5-7PM at Colonial Funeral Home, with rosary to be recited at 7PM. Funeral mass will be held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 704 Mallette Drive, with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Mangini, Aiden Knezek, James D. Knezek, Mark Knezek, Steven Schramek, Dawson Holly and Karson Holly.
George was born September 28, 1939 in Victoria, Texas to the late George J. and Helen M. Schramek. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1959. From there, he served 3 years in the United States Army. For over 31 years, George worked with the Materials and Tests Division of the Texas Department of Transportation retiring in 1996. He was a devoted catholic and attended Holy Family Catholic Church. He was an active participant in the community as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9088 , The Coastal Bend Museum, and the Victoria Stamp Club. He was recognized as the Knight of the Year in 1976. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He enjoyed working on his small garden and flower beds, collecting coins, and watching all sports on TV.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Dorothy Jean Schramek; son, Douglas Mangini (Renee); step-sons, James D. Knezek (Julie) and Mark Knezek (Shelly); grandchildren, Sabrina Mangini, Aiden Knezek, Carter Knezek, Lily Knezek, Magnolia Knezek and Iris Knezek; and brothers, Henry Schramek and William Schramek.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George J. Schramek and Helen M. Schramek.
