

Henry A. "Butch" Roell, 87, of Victoria passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015. He was born October 20, 1927 in Victoria to the late Karl F. and Augustine V. Malkowsky Roell. He graduated from Patti Welder High School and served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. Butch retired as a production supervisor from DuPont after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of VFW Post 4146 where he served as commander from 1970-71 and called bingo for 48 years. He was also a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Ann (Michael) Swinney of Houston, Deborah (Charlie) Wilson, and Susan Faye (Frank) Nevlud of all of Victoria and Terry Marie (Michael) Bay of Weatherford; sons, William F. (Roselyn) Roell of Victoria and Rick (Vickie) Roell of Anna, Texas; his sister, Mary Louise (Howard) Bierley of Victoria; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lillian Lesak Roell; sisters, Dorothy Gloor and Joyce Williamson; brothers, Karl Roell and Kenneth Roell.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday, September 21, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Rev. Greg Nevlud officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael and Drew Nevlud, Sean, Gavin and Lance Swinney, Aaron, Tyler and Travis Roell and Matthew Bay.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Ashley Williams, Mallory Wilson, Brittany Bay, Christina Flores, Kimberly Martin, Cassie and Courtney Roell.
Memorials may be made to VFW Post 4146, the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Victory Cathedral or Hospice of South Texas.
