He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army having served in the Korean War.
Ignacio was a Catholic and a member of the V.F.W. Post # 4146 and the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America.
Survivors include his daughters, Sister Maria Jacinta, of Cleveland, Ohio, Sylvia Kempinski and Elizabeth Gonzalez
and son, Ely Benavidez, all of Houston, Texas. Sister; Estella Ramos, of Pasadena, TX., brother; Fernando Benavidez, of Victoria, TX;
6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Isabel B. Aguilar, Norma B. Rodriguez, Angelita Sanchez, Maria Garcia; and brothers,
Ernesto Benavidez and Jose Benavidez.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be recited on Thursday, August 7, 2014, 9 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Burial with full military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at La Colonia De Mexicana Cemetery in El Campo, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Othman Cheramie, Russell Cheramie, Jacinto Aguilar, Fernando Gonzalez, George Albert Gonzalez and Ely Benavidez.
