Irene Lucille Nelson, 100, passed away October 20, 2018. She was born October 14, 1918 in Port O’Connor, TX to the late Erol and Bertha Tenny Canion.

She graduated from Patti Welder High School and on November 26, 1936 married the love of her life, Carl John Nelson, celebrated 32 years of marriage. Irene enjoyed being a Homemaker until her husband’s passing, then she went to work at Danburg’s and retired from JC Penny’s Catalog department.

Irene is survived by her children, Karen Grey, Donna Munsch, and Steve Nelson; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Carl J. Nelson II; brothers, Rockwell, Joe and Kenneth Canion; and sister, Birdie Canion.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Monday, October 29, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at First English Lutheran Church. A private burial will be held.
