

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie H. Guertin, of Victoria and an extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
Iris’s many interests included her research in family history. To this end, she was instrumental in leading the restoration and historic designation of the Navidad Baptist Cemetery in Schulenburg. She was a member of many societies including John Brewer Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century (charter member and President), Daughters of the American Colonists (Regent), Daughters of the American Revolution (Regent), United Daughters of the Confederacy, First Families of Texas, and was a pending member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Magna Charta Dames. Active in the Victoria Co. Genealogical Society, she was also webmaster of the Fairfax, VA Genealogical Society, and US Genweb District of Columbia website. A gifted writer, she compiled three historical books which are available on Ancestry online.
Iris’ career included her work with The Nature Conservancy, Region III Education Service Center and the Victoria College Library. She was also a self-employed safety consultant and trainer and received her B.S. degree in Occupational Health and Safety Engineering.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mike Malone on Thursday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. in Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ray Guse, Wade Harrell, Jason Ahern, George Filley, III, Kyle Brady and Henry “Butch” Strunk.
Honorary pallbearers are Doss Kornegay, John Quast, Leslie Sommer, Sonny Rose, Alan Turner, Edward Morrow and Benny Huff.
