Jacquolyn E. Woods

VICTORIA - Jacquolyn Everman Woods, age 84, entered her heavenly home 16 July 2012. Born in Dinero, Texas to Jack and Willie Mae Bean Everman, Jackie graduated from George West High School, George West, Texas. Following a life dedicated to education, she served as a school secretary while completing her degrees in English and history at South West Texas State Teachers College, and the University of Houston/Victoria. She will be fondly remembered as a beloved teacher of many years in the Victoria Public Schools.

Jackie was known in Victoria and throughout the state as one of the "Everman" girls as she and her two sisters, Jan Chilcoat and Martha Jones, often accompanied her to both education and patriotic meetings. She served in numerous offices at both local and state levels for many organizations and the Texas Retired Teachers Association was one of her favorites.

Marrying on their high school graduation night in 1944, Jackie and her husband for more than 68 years, Gharold "Pete" Woods, reared three daughters: Fran Woods Plemmons (John), Sharold Woods Garrett Haner (Mike), and Pam Woods Hovey (Mike). The family spent many years in Oakville, the Aransas Wildlife Refuge, and Victoria.

Jackie is fondly remembered as "Mimi" by her grandchildren Amy Plemmons Simpkins (Kevin), John Plemmons (Tammy) Derrick Garrett, MD. (Jeni), Chad Garrett, and Scott Franz. Great grandchildren: Dillan Franz, Megan Lehman, Christa Watson, Carter Plemmons, Jake Garrett, Kate Garrett, Beau Garrett, Eli Garrett and Ethan Garrett.

Visitation will be Tuesday, 17 July from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria with private burial Wednesday, 18 July 2012, followed by a Celebration of Life service at Colonial Funeral Home at 3:00 pm with Pastor Tim Williams officiating. Pallbearers are grandchildren and great grandchildren.
