JoAnn Alford, age 94 of Victoria, Texas, joined her husband in heaven on the afternoon of September 24, 2025. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, JoAnn was born February 21, 1931, in Three Rivers, Texas. The second child of Buck and Kate Smith, she was a proud resident of Victoria for 73 years.
JoAnn met her beloved Jack in San Antonio, Texas, in 1949. The two were married in 1952 and moved to Victoria in 1952, where they opened his chiropractic practice. Building a life together, they worked side by side for nearly 4 decades until their retirement in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W. Jack Alford; her parents, Buck and Kate Smith; her brothers, H.C. Smith and Norman Smith; and her sister, Kay Hansen.
JoAnn loved her family fiercely and wholeheartedly, and her GREATEST joys were her two “angel doll boys,” sons Rocky and Gary. JoAnn became a ”Monya” in 1989, and her grandbabies and great-grandbabies were some of the greatest joys of her life as well. Her love touched many lives. She loved the Lord and enjoyed attending church every Sunday. JoAnn enjoyed an active and joyful life, forming lifelong friendships that she cherished like family. She was a member of the Rambling Rose Camping Club, Bridge Club, and Domino Club. JoAnn loved bridge most of all, and as a fierce competitor, she relished in any opportunity to play cards or dominoes - and she rarely lost.
We want to give a special thanks to Martha and her at-home caregivers and Hospice for helping take care of our sweet Monya girl.
JoAnn is survived by her two sons, Rocky Alford (Martha), Gary (Cindy) Alford; grandchildren Brittany (Fred) Corpening, Hunter (Baylee) Alford, Tristan and Jon Mathew (Terri) Vasquez; step grandchildren Lacey, Mallory, Taylar and Remington Maddux; great grandchildren, Rowan, Beckham, and Reese; and sister, Ethelene Smith Adams.
