J.R. "Bobby" Van Zant Jr.

J. R. “Bobby” Van Zant, Jr., 81, of Victoria passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013. He was born April 12, 1931 in Mercedes, Texas, to the late Gertrude Patterson Munlin. He was a retired warehouse supervisor for H. B. Zachary at DuPont. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his son, Robert Van Zant and his wife, Judy; his daughter, Judy Westbrook and husband, Robert, all of Victoria; grandchildren, Robin Van Zant, Timothy Van Zant and wife, Jessica, Haley Oliver and Kyle Oliver; two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Larson Van Zant; son-in-law, John Oliver; and grandson, Scott Oliver.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Friday, February 15, 2013, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 10 am Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Barney Matocha officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Timothy Van Zant and Kyle Oliver, and W. P. Larson, Jr., Charles Larson, Dan Hiller and Billy Maroney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy McSpadden, Marion Rhodes, Lillian “Baby” Lester, Jeff Lester and Scott Lester.

The family would like to offer special thanks to his caretakers, Dale Fleming, Kim Goode, Maria Cruz, Shannon Gallegos, Susan Vargas and Grace Garcia, and also to Dr. Fabian Espinosa.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
