Kenneth D. Sparks Sr.

Kenneth D. Sparks, Sr., age 69, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011. He was born January 24, 1942 in Port Lavaca to the late Newton and Virginia Sarlls Sparks. He retired from H. B. Zachary in 2005 after 32 years of service. Kenneth enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was very special to his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren thought he was “the best Papa on 4-wheels”. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Sparks; sons, Tray Newton Sparks and wife Chris, and Alton Lance Sparks; step-daughter, Nicki Hime, all of Victoria; sisters, Linda Plummer of Victoria, Trubby Hunt of Adkins, and Marjorie Thomas of Sealy; brother, Norman Sparks and wife Wilma of Livingston; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth D. Sparks, Jr.; brothers, Melvin Sparks and Gerald Sparks; and sister, Edith Sparks.

Private services will be held by the Family.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael Nielson, Tray Sparks, Jr., Lance Sparks, Jr., Arron Sparks, Kenneth Sparks, III, Eric Sparks, Alex Sparks, Tony Sparks, Johnny Karm, C. J. Johnson, Monty Broom, Joshua Haddock, and Jimmy Mancuso.
