

Kenneth E. “Ken” Woodard, 79, passed away January 26, 2016 at his residence in Victoria, Texas. He was born October 20, 1936 in Robinson, Texas to Florence Woodard and the late B. L. Woodard. Ken worked in the television industry from 1955 to 1975. After completing 2 degrees at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls he began his second career as a Plant Pathologist at Texas A&M Research Center in Stephenville, Texas in 1975 and retired in 1997. Ken retired to Victoria in 1998. His favorite hobby was writing. He completed four novels, numerous short stories and many poems to entertain friends and coworkers. Ken was also a Volunteer Certified Ombudsman for 16 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Shirley Haddock Woodard; daughters, Sylvia Ekdahl (Wayne) of Stamford, Texas and Kenda Matson (Chuck) of Victoria; granddaughters, Sabrina Scheerer (Dustin) and Charlsa Matson; grandsons, Joseph Ekdahl and Keefe Matson; four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Sofia, David and Daniel Scheerer; mother, Florence Woodard of Bruceville-Eddy, Texas; sister, Shirley Booker (Robert); brother-in-law, Robert Haddock; one niece and one nephew.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Woodard.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
