Larry resided in Victoria all of his life and married his love and soul mate Nancy Barrow Coons. For 35 years, they shared a wonderful and fun life. Together they raised 3 children, Harley Coons (Sara) of Round Rock, Nicole Barnett (Ryan) of Inez, and Aaron Coons (Whitney) of Port Lavaca. His pride and joys were his wife, children, and grandbabies, Payton and Tyler Barnett, Austin Coons, and Grayson Coons.
Larry worked at Formosa for 27 years. He was dedicated and proud of his job and his hard work. He never met a stranger and would help anyone and everyone he knew. Larry always had a smile on his face and a new project in mind. Determination drove him to finally start his dream place in Port O’Connor; a place of many memories and dreams coming true. Larry loved to do anything that involved his family and especially his grandkids. He spent many late nights at the ballpark, track, gym, or on the road, coaching the kids, helping them, guiding them, and most of all being present and loving them. They love their Pops and always looked forward to sports talk with him. His competitive nature pushed us all to succeed. He will be greatly missed.
Larry leaves behind his wife, children, and grandchildren; sister Terri Coons-Scherer (Kent); brother, Steven Coons, and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 22, 2019 from 6-8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be Thursday May 23, 2019 at 2 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with burial to immediately follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Coons, Harley Coons, Ryan Barnett, Steven Coons, Randall Heller, Joe Coffey, Gaylon Michalk, and Kevin Runge.
Honorary pallbearers are Austin Coons, Grayson Coons, Tyler Barnett, and Payton Barnett.
