Marilyn Jaster, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Victoria, Texas. She was born on October 18, 1933, to Ernest and Pauline Mengers Salge of Mathis, Texas. She graduated from Mathis High School, Texas Lutheran College, and Texas A&I University. Her career was in education as she was a teacher or counselor for the Runge, Yorktown, Meyersville, and Victoria public schools for 28 years.
Faith was important to her. She lived as a faithful follower, studied the Bible, and was active in church, participating in the choir and women's groups. She was blessed with a heart for children and teaching. She often helped students and others who were in need, putting her faith into action. She passed on that gift of generosity and caring to her family.
She married Delvin Jaster on August 21, 1957. She is survived by their three children, Nancy Jaster of Port Lavaca, Melanie (Dan) Crider of Victoria, and Kyle Jaster of San Antonio. Also surviving are grandsons, Nathan Crider and Kyle Richard Crider, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn (Bill) Spearman, of Summerville, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Howard Salge of Tynan, Texas.
Visitation will be at Rosewood Funeral Home, Victoria, Texas, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm. A memorial service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church, Port Lavaca, Texas, on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11 am.
The family rejoices that Marilyn is now at peace, joined with Delvin, as they visit with their Heavenly Father. We celebrate her life with each of our personal memories of Marilyn touching our lives.
