Mary Evelyn is survived by her daughter Cynthia A. Wainscott (Tom) of Spring Branch, four grandchildren, Lindsay Friedrich (Roy), Cody Wainscott, Jennifer Wruck (Adam) and Travis Wainscott, one great grandchild, Claire Evelyn Friedrich and daughter-in-law, Vicki Hillmer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Felix “Cotton” Hillmer and her son, David G. Hillmer.
Mary Evelyn was very active in her church family serving as President of the Women of the Church, Director of the Altar Guild and Chairman of Ruth and Lydia Circle. She and “Cotton” belonged to several dance clubs and enjoyed going dancing together with their friends. She also loved to play games and was always wanting to play a new game she found. Mary Evelyn belonged to several Bridge Clubs too until her health did not allow her to travel. She played Mexican Train with her longtime friends, Mary, Gail and Dorothy along with her nieces, Kathleen and Carol almost every Sunday in her home.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 5-7 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. The funeral service will be 10 am on Monday at First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Chip Reynolds officiating and interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody Wainscott, Travis Wainscott, Adam Wruck, Roy Friedrich, Jeff Sproles and Kurt Heil.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust, Victoria, TX 77901 or First English Lutheran Church, 516 N. Main, Victoria, TX 77901.
The family would like to thank Cecelia Middleton, Angela Watts and Norma Padierna for their loving care and devotion to our mom and grandma for the last two years.
We will miss her unconditional love and support. She was always full of love, wisdom, faith and fun.
