Jean graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1960 where she participated in several clubs including the Drum and Bugle Corps. She was never afraid of work. She worked at the Tejas & Aztec Drive-In at an early age (like 11). After graduating high school she held several jobs and moved around. She finally settled in Houston where she started her family. Once she became a single mom, she chose jobs that would keep her close to her children. She ran a daycare in her home making every day adventurous for the kids that she kept. She then managed the cafeteria where her kids attended school where she was praised for delicious cooking.
In 1984, Jean moved her family to Victoria where she went to work with her Dad who owned Area Plumbing. She spent 20 years working side by side with the man she respected more than anybody. After he retired, she decided to move on and went to work for HEB where she retired after 10 years.
There was never a dull moment when Jean was around. Whether cooking, playing cards (she had the best poker face) or dominoes or just hanging out she loved life and everyone she shared it with. Her grandchildren, nieces and nephews will always cherish the memories they made with “Bubbles”.
Jean never left without saying, “Think of me and smile.” We will always remember you, Jean, and always smile!
