

Michael Edward O’Sullivan, 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on February 4, 2018. Michael was born July 10, 1934 in Winfield, Kansas to the late Edward Joseph and Fern Nunemaker O’Sullivan. His family relocated to Victoria, Texas when he was a young boy, and he graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1952. Michael became an avid photographer during his teenage years. Michael enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1953 and proudly served his country for 4 years. In 1956 he married the love of his life, Mavis. He worked at The Victoria Advocate as a staff photographer and reporter for several years. Michael went on to a long and rewarding career with Union Carbide Seadrift as an employee relations administrator, retiring after 35 years in July 1999. Michael was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder, and taught Sunday school. His faith and church family were very important to him. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, photography, birding, traveling, and exploring the great outdoors. Michael’s greatest passion was his family and children. He was known as a very kind, gentle, compassionate, sweet man to all who met him. He never met a stranger, and everyone knew they had a friend in Michael. His great smile, laugh, and love of life will be missed by all.
Michael is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mavis A. Stubbs O’Sullivan; sons, Dr. Sean O’Sullivan (Nancy) of Victoria, Chris O’Sullivan (Carrie) of Houston and granddaughters, Megan, Cassie and Britney O’Sullivan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William J. O’Sullivan; sisters, Patricia LeAnn and Tamarra Latimer.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 1-2 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Michael’s Life will follow at 2 pm also at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veteran’s Council.
